As Executive Director and Founder of the non-profit Sustainable South Bronx from 2001-2008, Majora Carter started one of the nation's first green-collar job training and placement systems in one of the most environmentally and economically challenged parts of the US. A pioneer in a new way of thinking green - one that results in profitability and social impact, and a better environment for us all to live in - this MacArthur 'genius' has since launched a consulting company to export this knowledge base across America. Her work spans the wetlands of gulf coast Lousiana, to the urban prairies of Detriot, to rural North Eastern North Carolina and beyond. She is host of Eco-Heroes on Sundance Channel, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting special series, The Promised Land. Hear more about the growing definition of environmentalism - how this new way of 'thinking green' leads every community to realize its own potential, upper and lower class, built and natural environment, within our planet and ourselves as human beings living and breathing together.

Selected by Architectural Digest Magazine as an AD100 Top Designer for 2010, Margaret McCurry believes that when it comes to designing homes, big isn’t necessarily better. McCurry, who started her career in the late 1960s and merged her firm with that of her husband, Stanley Tigerman, in 1982, is known for modern houses that demonstrate her love of vernacular architecture and fondness for classicism. McCurry’s work includes residences in Michigan inspired by Shaker symmetry and aesthetics, one clad in corrugated steel and one of her favorite projects is turning stockpiled shipping containers into affordable housing. Join McCurry as she discusses her various award winning residential design projects from coast to coast and around the inland sea.

We all want our products to be as much about personal expression and the leading edge of innovation, while reflecting our 21rst century values...the new role of the designer is to create, and sometimes arbitrate, between these elements of contemporary culture. What are the stories, tools and strategies that we use to practice 360° design?
